Jack Draper Calls Out Chair Umpire’s Blunder in VAR Controversy vs Carlos Alcaraz
The very same VAR argument was between Jack Draper and Carlos Alcaraz in this tournament.
Jack Draper Calls Out Chair Umpire’s Blunder: Jack Draper, who set a thrilling representative semis win at Indian Wells, naded over Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, currently ranked as the second best player in the world, with a score of 6-1, 0-6, 6-4. Indeed, Draper had held the upper hand on the course of the moving drama through many hindrances along the way.

Then, all of a sudden at 1-1 in the third set, came a big moment in their match after the chair umpire called Jack's shot out after it hit the ground twice. The chair calling for a replay of the point escalated that call into agitation on Alcaraz's part, whilst Jack wanted the review for Alcaraz's position when that call was made, and then he got the point.

Draper described all of that as a "really tough situation" when asked by the media in his post-match interview about the entire VAR controversy. He said, "Obviously we do have the review here, and that's a really good thing. It was a tough situation, because obviously felt like I got the ball up, and then also, I know that Carlos had only just got to it and he missed it wide. So I asked Mohamed to look at the video review and was it clear that I got it up? But then it was the fact that I don't think Carlos really had a good play on the ball and he missed it."

Last year, he was 50-50 on the slam when he beat Felix Auger-Aliassime. The ball hit his racket and touched the ground before going to his opponent's court in match point. The chair did not call the double bounce and the British ace won the match. He subsequently revealed that even he was in some doubts over what had happened.
On Monday, Jack will face Holger Rune in the final. Rune glided past Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals, defeating him 7-5, 6-4.
