International Yoga Day 2024: PM Modi's Address in Jammu & Kashmir

International Yoga Day 2024: On this special day, as we celebrate International Yoga Day PM Modi visited Srinagar to attend the Yoga event that is being held at the Sheri-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC).

PM Modi planned to visit Jammu and Kashmir for a day trip during which he will address the national yoga celebration in Srinagar.

The Yoga event to honor International Yoga Day is organized by SKICC on the banks of Dal Lake and more than 700 people are expected to attend the event.

However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi plays a huge role in the existence of International Yoga Day as he was the one who proposed the idea in the 69th session of the General Assembly. Later on, the United Nations officially announced International Yoga Day in December 2014.

This will be marked as the 10th celebration of International Yoga Day, From 2015 PM Modi held celebrations in different locations such as Delhi, Ranchi, Dehradun, Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Mysuru.

Several videos and photos of PM Modi performing asanas at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre went viral online.

This day promotes and encourages young minds and bodies to do yoga to get thousands of people to practice together and promote health and fitness worldwide.

Along with PM Narendra Modi Officer-in-Charge of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, and Union Minister of State of the Ministry of Ayush and Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav and many others attended the celebrations.

Union Minister of Information and Broadcast Ashwini Vaishnaw, Kiren Rijiju, HD Kumaraswamy, Union Ministers of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi, and BL Verma also attended the event.

PM Modi speech at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre noted, “As we mark the 10th International Day of Yoga, I urge everyone to make it a part of their daily lives. Yoga fosters strength, good health, and wellness. It is wonderful to join this year's programme in Srinagar.”

He also calls Khasmir the “land of yoga, sadhna.”

He further says, “A 101-year-old French female yoga instructor was awarded the Padma Shri in India for her lifelong dedication to promoting yoga awareness, despite never visiting India. This achievement has prompted worldwide research and publication of research papers.”
