India’s Envoy Responds to Pakistan’s Jet Downing Claim: ‘If It Satisfies Their Ego…’
According to Vikram Doraiswami, while India does not intend to escalate but will respond proportionately, and "in kind" if provoked.
India’s Envoy Responds to Pakistan’s Jet Downing Claim: Vikram Doraiswami, the Indian high commissioner to the UK, dismissed Pakistan's claims after India's 'Operation Sindoor' attacks on terrorist hideouts on the other side of the border on Thursday.
Doraiswami appeared on Sky News anchor Yalda Hakim asked to respond to Pakistan's claims,"And what are they even retaliating to?"
He pointed out that “they (Pakistan) are retaliating against attacks on terrorism infrastructure...What does that tell you of their relationship with the terror groups?"

He then drew attention to the original escalation by Pakistan when by killing 26 innocent civilians in a picturesque meadow of Pahalgam Jammu and Kashmir.
The diplomat factually pointed out that India did not strike any military establishment or infrastructure simply to prevent escalation. He noted that India's strikes inside Pakistan and Kashmir were 'precise, targeted, reasonable and moderate.'
“A fact that was in fact recognised – in a left-handed fashion of course – in their own statements, which indicated that the airspace wasn’t violated,” Doraiswami said.
He then made fun of Pakistan’s claims that they shot down Indian aircraft with Chinese-made fighter jets, Doraiswami said, “If it satisfies Pakistan's ego to say that they've done something, they could have used that as an off-ramp to move on. Clearly, they've chosen not to, and they've chosen to escalate the matter.”
Responding to Islamabad's threats of further action, he added, “We will respond proportionally and in exactly the same light.”
“For the last 15 days, they've also opened artillery fire along the Line of Actual Control... That's led to civilian casualties,” Doraiswami said.

Pakistan’s fresh attack bid thwarted
One day after India's precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Pakistan made a retaliatory attack request late Thursday night, beginning a fresh set of drone and missile strikes targeting Indian military facilities.
Key sites in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were among the primary targets according to the Ministry of Defence.
Indian armed forces rapidly intercepted and neutralized the threat, avoiding damage across at least 15 cities in northern and western India, including sensitive regions in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
