Himachal Pradesh Landslide: 6 Killed, 5 Injured in Kullu Tragedy

Police and rescue teams of the district administration have shifted five injured to the local community hospital at Jari, informed ADM Kullu, Ashwani Kumar.
Social media posts showed the aftermath of the accident: videos depicting forest workers, under heavy rains, clearing the sight of the fallen trees while two Sumo taxis lay crushed under a heavy branch that fell upon them.

People heard close to the Manikaran Gurdwara accident site sobbing and murmuring, "Maa" (mom) and "chale gaye, chale gaye" (they are gone, they are gone), near to a Kayal tree that lay across a car.
A police team led by SHO Manikaran is present on-site, coordinating rescue and relief operations. The field revenue agency is also on-site, assessing the situation and assisting with emergency measures.
A team of fire department personnel from Jari are on their way as well. Identities of the deceased have yet to be recognized by the police.
Manikaran is located at an altitude of 1,829 metres, about 40 km from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier this week, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in four districts of Himachal Pradesh.
On Thursday, the IMD gave a yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h for four districts in Himachal Pradesh: Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi.
About five in the evening, when debris from the hills came rolling down, the tree fell on the road.

In an unfortunate incident in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, six lives went under a tree near the Manikaran Gurudwara. The eyewitnesses narrated how a pine tree fell onto the road just in front of the said Gurudwara, uprooted by strong winds, crushing the hawker, Sumo taxi driver, and three tourists who were there.
Immediately after the incident, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kullu Vikas Shukla rushed to the site of the incident to assess the nature and extent of the damage and injury.
