Greater Noida Doctor Performs Surgery on Wrong Eye: A seven-year-old boy, who had gone in for surgery on his left eye at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, was operated on the right instead, an NDTV report said. The incident occurred at Anand Spectrum Hospital in Sector Gamma 1 on November 12.
He had been complaining of frequent waterings in the left eye. Therefore, we took him to the hospital and an eye specialist, Dr Anand Verma, after examining him said that there was a plastic-like object inside the eye, which could be taken out through surgery," said Nitin Bhati, the boy's father.

The surgery would cost ₹45,000, according to officials who spoke on condition of anonymity while referring to the report, and the operation on Yudhisthir was done on Tuesday.
When the boy's mother found that on coming home the surgery has been done on wrong eye, then the family approached the doctor. But, according to police report quoted by NDTV, he and his staff misbehaved with them too.
The family then went to a hue and cry at the hospital and complained with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gautam Buddha Nagar. In his complaint, the boy's father has appealed for the doctor's license to be taken away and requested sealing of the hospital.

Incidents like these
There is a similar case reported earlier this year in May. A four-year-old girl from Kerala had undergone the removal of her sixth finger at Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode. However, within hours of her going under the knife, it was discovered that the surgery had been performed on the wrong part of the body—the child's tongue. So, the family members do suspect that there must have been some thing amiss. The child's mouth was found stuffed with cotton after the surgery, so they began further probing. They found, upon inspection, that it was her tongue that the procedure had been performed on and not her hand.
The incident put huge pressure on the state government and made headlines in Kerala. Associate Professor Bejohn Johnson has been suspended pending inquiry orders from the State Government that came after a report from the Director of Medical Education. The latter has been asked to conduct an inquiry immediately. Health Minister, Veena George, announced the suspension.
A case of negligence was registered in Ludhiana Sadar police station by a patient against a surgeon, who had operated upon him for kidney stone nearly two years back. He had the stone in his right kidney, but this innocent doctor had removed the wrong kidney. Complications also marred the procedure and rendered him bedridden since then.
