DDA Urges Signature View Apartment Residents to Vacate as Demolition Deadline Passes
In its directive dated November 2024, the Delhi High Court directed the DDA to ensure evacuation within three months, along with rent assistance.
The Delhi Development Authority served a notice to the residents at Signature View Apartments in Mukherjee Nagar asking them to leave their flats as soon as possible since March 23 expired as a deadline for evacuation. The 336-flat residential complex had been termed "dangerous building". by the DDA on structural safety grounds.
It is issued for its demolition as e-tender on March 17, quite soon after the authority issued SOPs for the residents along with the organizing body Resident Welfare Association (RWA) to coordinate evacuation.

In the notice dated April 15, the DDA stated, "The high court had mandated that all occupants vacate their flats between December 23, 2024 and March 23, 2025. That period has now lapsed."
DDA has urged residents to vacate their flats as soon as possible for their safety and for the demolition and reconstruction of the building. It has also asked the RWA to coordinate all residents for timely evacuation.
Further information on the reconstruction schedule and procedures for claiming the facilitation amount will be shared in due course.
The authority also talking about its commitment to the court's order over rent assistance but willing to appeal on certain parts of the order.

RWA president Amrendra Singh Rakesh said so far 111 residents have vacated their flats but have not received the promised rent compensation.
"Residents were assured of financial aid once they moved out. But even after 111 families vacated, no payments have been made," Rakesh said.
He added that the delay has led to uncertainty among residents regarding whether they will get the promised compensation.
As per the e-tender, the selected agency will be assigned the job of dismantling the existing structures and transporting the debris to a Municipal Corporation of Delhi-approved dumping site.
