Coolie Release Date: Rajinikanth’s Film to Clash With War 2, Fans Say ‘Salaar vs Dunki 2.0’

Coolie Release Date: Truly a superstar, Rajinikanth is all set to ignite screens once more in this director Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming action-packed thriller Coolie, which is up for a worldwide release on August 14. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, the film has already gained an enormous buzz across the film industry, thanks to its cast and its highly thrilling premise.

Coolie is said to be an action thriller that will revolve around the dark world of gold smuggling, promising to be a very stylized and stand-alone film. Interestingly, very recently, Lokesh Kanagaraj denied that Coolie would be part of his even-more-discussed Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), intensifying our curiosity as to what kind of tone and direction the maker would bring to this new tale.

After the announcement of the release date of Coolie, social media was overtaken by fans who expressed their excitement. One fan sent Lokesh Kanagaraj best wishes, asking him to make Rajinikanth's 50th year in the film industry a truly memorable one. Some others were at peak excitement, while others made comments pointing toward War 2 possible box office clashes. Many just said, "Make way for Thalaivar!"

The cast includes a wide range of talent from all different corners of Indian cinema. Apart from Rajinikanth, Telugu superstar Nagarjuna plays alongside Kannada icon Upendra, the Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, and Tamil stalwart Sathyaraj in pivotal roles. Bollywood giant Aamir Khan is said to make a cameo appearance, fueling the excitement further.

In the other key roles of the story are Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, and Junior MGR. Further enriching the film with visual and sound splendor, Anirudh Ravichander gives the soundtrack while Girish Gangadharan handles the cinematography. Editing by Philomin Raj ensures the film’s pace keeps up with the charged narrative line of events.

Another key highlight of the film is the much-publicized reunion of Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj after 38 years. Their last appearance together was in Mr. Bharat (1986), where Sathyaraj played the father of Rajinikanth. The fans are very much looking forward to this jodi, especially since Sathyaraj had turned down opportunities in some of Rajinikanth's biggest hits, Sivaji and Enthiran.

The hype surrounding the film escalated as Coolie neared release. With superstar Rajinikanth in his 171st film, it is being touted as one of this year's biggest pan-Indian blockbusters, with Lokesh Kanagaraj promising an altogether fresh film experience outside his established cinematic universe. In the meantime, the superstar is preparing for the sequel to Jailer, titled Jailer 2.
