BCCI Imposes Heavy Penalty on Shubman Gill Following Glaring Error as Gujarat Captain against CSK
BCCI Imposes Heavy Penalty on Shubman Gill: During Gujarat Titans' loss to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Shubman Gill was fined for maintaining a slow over-rate. Shubman Gill is the first captain to receive a fine for slow over-rates in IPL 2024.
He was penalized with a 12-lakh fine by the IPL Governing Council for his first offense for slow over-rates.
GT skipper was fined for his team's slow over rate during their recent match. It was the team's first offense of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct.
“Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on March 26. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Gill was fined ₹12 lakh,” IPL said in an official statement.
In his debut match as captain, Gill led the team to victory against Mumbai Indians. However, he failed to maintain the winning momentum.
CSK chose to bat first, and Ravindra displayed aggressive batting, scoring 46 off just 20 balls. Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad added 62 runs before Ravindra was bowled by Rashid Khan.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was dropped at first slip in the first over.
During the run chase, Shubman Gill was dismissed for eight runs off five balls during the third over, as the Titans scored only 143 runs in their 20 overs.
In the 10-team table, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are in sixth place with two points and an NRR of -1,425 against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, March 31st.
