IPL 2024: Irfan and Yusuf Pathan Critique Hardik Pandya After Mumbai Indians Loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad

Irfan and Yusuf Pathan Critique Hardik Pandya: Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad played a high-scoring thriller at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Former players Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan criticised Mumbai Indians for their failure to chase down their target. Pandya scored 24 runs off 20 balls despite his efforts.

Talking to social media platform X, Irfhan said “If the whole team is playing with the strike of 200, Captain can’t bat with the batting strike rate of 120,”

The importance of a leader's performance matching the standards of the team.

Meanwhile, Yusuf remarked, “Can’t understand the strategy behind the skipper keeping a spinner to bowl last over,” indicating tactical lapses in Pandya’s captaincy approach.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a daunting total of 277/3 after recording half-centuries from Travis Head (62), Abhishek Sharma (63), and Heinrich Klaasen (80). With 64 runs from Tilak Verma, Mumbai Indians responded well, but fell short by 31 runs, losing for the second consecutive time.

Mumbai Indians' resilience was demonstrated by Tilak Verma's 64 off 34 balls.

Pandya's leadership decisions and bat performance have come under scrutiny since he took over from Rohit Sharma as captain. His struggles as a captain under pressure were evident despite his efforts, scoring 24 runs off 20 balls.
