Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Sent to Judicial Custody in Excise Policy Case Until April 15
Arvind Kejriwal Sent to Judicial Custody in Excise Policy Case Until April 15: The Enforcement Directorate requested 15 days of judicial custody for Arvind Kejriwal, saying he was "totally uncooperative".
A money-laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy sent Delhi's chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody until April 15, according to a court on Rouse Avenue. Following the end of his Enforcement Directorate custody, Arvind Kejriwal appeared before special judge Kaveri Baweja.
He has also filed a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging his arrest, alleging that the investigating agency violated his fundamental rights.
The ED has been notified to respond by April 2. The hearing will continue on April 3.
Earlier in the day, top INDIA bloc leaders met at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital for the 'Loktantra Bachao' (Save Democracy) rally.
Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Courts passed the order after the ED did not seek further remand. "We are asking for judicial custody, subject to the right to seek further custody as per SC judgment in Senthil Balaji case," the ED counsel said.
Among the AAP ministers present in court were Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Sunita Kejriwal, Kejriwal's wife.
