American Airlines Plane Crash in Washington DC: The American Airlines flight landing at Reagan National Airport had 64 persons on board and collided with an Army helicopter, Black Hawk, just outside Washington on Wednesday.
Several fatalities have been confirmed, and search and rescue operations are attempting to retrieve survivors from the water, CNN reported. But there has been no official word on the death toll.

The emergency authorities have “switched to recovery effort” after 28 bodies were located, officials said. The officials are confident about retrieving the bodies of those who died during the collision. The airplane was coming in from Wichita, Kansas, with 64 persons, whereas three soldiers were aboard the helicopter.

President Donald Trump will address the tragic plane crash in DC on an 11 a.m. ET briefing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a post, according to NBC News.

The press briefing will be held at the White House in the James S. Brady Briefing Room, according to the post by Leavitt.
US Figure Skating has said several members of the figure skating community were aboard the jet returning from a developmental camp in Wichita. The Skating Club of Boston has identified six victims, including Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, pair champions in 1994.
The investigation is being led by the National Transportation Safety Board. American Airlines indicated both pilots on board Flight 5342 had experience in the complex issue of commercial flight; Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated the helicopter was on an annual proficiency training flight.
