But that is a big hurry, the deadline is moving towards us!
With the first one said for June 14, 2024, it has been rescheduled to September 14, 2024, according to UIDAI-The Aadhaar Act. There is bad news for those who have an Aadhaar card; hence, starting from this date, you will be charged a fee to edit this card.
Aadhaar is a 12 digit unique identification number delivered based on one’s biometric and demographic information, is relevant for services which necessitate authenticated one-time passwords.

One of them is to address factors such as identity theft and duplication while ensuring that each citizen has a unique identification number connected to their biometrics.
Apparently, if one has not revalidated Aadhaar for more than 10 years, UIDAI advices one to update demographic data with proof of identity as well as address to ensure the biometric ID has correct information. This assists in improving service provision and these, in turn, will increase the likelihood of successful authentications.

The NIC’S official website is www.uidai.gov.in after opening it, there is an option of the desired language.
- Step 2: Go to the ‘My Aadhaar’ section and from it, you wanted you want to update your Aadhaar from the drop down link select ‘Update Your Aadhaar’.
- Step 3: Then the users will be redirected to ‘Update Aadhaar Details (Online)’. Then a window will pop up and click the ‘Document Update’ button.
- Step 4: When the users get to the said page, they have to input their UID number and the Captcha code. Then, on clicking ‘Send OTP’, the user also receives a one-time password on the registered mobile number of the user.
- Step 5: On entering OTP the last action for the customers is to click on ‘Login’.
- Step 6: Three, the accounts’ demographic information the user wishes to modify ( name, address, date of birth etc. ) has to be selected, and new information to be entered in the right format.
- Step 7: If the changes that have been marked as compulsory to make have been made, then the users will need to click on the ‘Submit’ button along with attaching scanned copies.
- Step 8: The last step is to select the update request button submit update request The users of the system shall also be allocated an update request number for checking the status of the update request.
One of the things that cannot be modified online include biometric details which are as follows; iris scans, fingerprints and photographs. In addition, the options of changing the date of birth and gender are two times only.
While visiting the site, you will be required to provide your biometric information; this will be accompanied by an acknowledgment slip with the update request number to enable you monitor the update being made.
It is therefore wise to update the Aadhaar details before the new set deadline in case one encounters problems when accessing services that need Aadhaar authentication.
The Portal will also update Aadhaar free until September 14, 2024. From this date of 12th November 2014, one would have to pay certain amount of fee for getting the Aadhaar card updated.
