9-Year-Old Dies at Hersheypark’s Water Park in Pennsylvania – First Death Since 1977

In the Hersheypark amusement park in Pennsylvania, a child aged 9 has died at The Boardwalk, an amusement park that did not contain a single mishap since 1977. According to New York Post, based on an archived copy of Lebanon News the last fatality that occurred at the amusement park was in 1977 where a rollercoaster train struck a maintenance technician working at this amusement park mistakenly even though he was working on the machine and this occurred when this teenager was 16 years of age.

After the lifeguards and first responders on the ground saved the child, he was taken to the local hospital where he was declared dead. The police are yet to reveal the name of the child as well as the reason that caused the killing.

"Tonight, a nine-year-old guest was tragically lost at The Boardwalk at Hersheypark," said John Lawn, In a statement posted on Thursday by CEO Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company.

Lawn said, "To every family that visits Hersheypark, please know this: your safety and well-being drive every decision we make. We will thoroughly investigate this tragedy and honor the memory of this young guest by continuing our focus on ensuring the safety of our guests at Hersheypark."

"Our hearts break for this child and the child's family. We extend our deepest condolences for their loss," he added.
