7 Babies Killed at Massive Fire at Delhi Children Hospital.
Massive Fire at Delhi Children's Hospital: A horrible incident took place in the Vivek Vihar area, Delhi, where 7 newborn babies died due to a massive fire at a baby care center.
The incident took place on Saturday late at night at 11: 30 pm when the Dlehi fire service got a call.
As soon as the Delhi fire service got a call, 16 fire trucks reached the spot and carried out their duties.
As per the police report,6 babies were killed by the fire and the rest 5 babies were admitted to the NICU Hospital in east Delhi.
DCP Shahdara said in a statement that, "In the hospital there were 12 newborns admitted. They were all rescued and shifted to the East Delhi Advance NICU Hospital, Vivek Vihar for treatment. Out of these babies, six were declared dead and one died earlier. The seven bodies have been further shifted to GTB Hospital for postmortem."
India Today reported that a police report has been made against Naveen Kichi, the owner of the New Born Baby Care Hospital, under sections 336 (putting other people's lives or safety at risk), 304A (death by negligence), and 34 (criminal action) of the Indian Penal Code. He is currently on the run.
As per the reports, the cause of the fire must have been because of the blast of an oxygen cylinder.
Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg told ANI that they had trouble putting off the fire but somehow they divided them into two teams, one team was taking care of the continuous blast of cylinders and another team was taking care of the rescue operation of the babies but unfortunately "we could not save all the children... That is a regrettable incident."
In an earlier incident, a fire broke out early in Gujarat leading to 11 dead in the Rajkot Gaming Zone area.
