Amit Shah Declares in Imphal: On Monday, Amit Shah alleged that "attempts have been made to change Manipur's demography through infiltration", adding that the Lok Sabha election is between forces who are trying to break Manipur and those who are keeping it together.
According to Amit Shah, the BJP-led central government's priority is to establish peace in ethnically strife-torn Manipur.
During a public meeting in Imphal, Mr Shah said this Lok Sabha election is between forces trying to break Manipur and those keeping it united.
BJP leaders claimed attempts were being made to infiltrate the northeastern state to change its demographics.
The most important thing is that no matter what, "hum Manipur ko tutne nahi denge" (we won't let Manipur break)," Shah told ANI at a rally in Imphal.
According to Mr Shah, the Narendra Modi government is committed to establishing peace in Manipur without tearing the state apart.
“I want to tell this today that our (CM) Biren Singh may not say this, but he kept a big demand before PM Modi - Manipur cannot remain united without inner-line permit. The BJP government has strengthened Manipur by giving inner-line permit,” Shah added.
Last May, ethnic clashes broke out in Manipur after the Meitei community protested against the Scheduled Tribe (ST) status demand during a 'Tribal Solidarity March' in the hill districts. At least 219 people were killed as a result of the clashes.
When the destiny of the northeast and Manipur changes, the destiny of the country will change Shah said during the rally.
"The Congress has an agenda to divide Manipur. But I want to say no one has the courage to divide Manipur," he said.
"It is not between the Congress and the BJP, but between forces which want to break Manipur and those who want to keep it united," Mr Shah said.

It was alleged by the union minister that the Congress wanted to divide the country into north and south.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said last week that the situation in Manipur had improved 'markedly' in an interview with an Assam-based newspaper.
He said PM Modi is working to free the northeast from separatism and militancy.
During the last ten years, Mr Shah said, the prime minister has made the country more secure.
In earlier ethnic conflicts in the region, a large number of people were killed.
"More than 700 people were killed in the Kuki Naga conflict. The Kuki-Paite clashes claimed over 300 lives. In the clashes between Meiteis and Pangals, 100 people were killed," he said.
Shah said, "I know there has been intrusion to change the demography of this state. The Modi government has decided to fence the Myanmar border to keep Manipur secure as well as to cancel Free Movement Regime." In the last six years, no violence has happened in Manipur, he said.

Modi's Initiatives in Improving Manipur
Besides loot, protests, blockades, and bandhs, what had Congress given to the state?
Manipur's BJP government has built national highways and built a medical college, according to Shah.
"The amount of funds the Modi government has given for the progress of Manipur is four times that of what the Congress gave," he said.
Shah also pledged to provide everyone in Manipur with a house with all facilities such as toilets, electricity, water, and LPG within five years.
While addressing Parliament last year, PM Modi expressed his commitment to addressing Manipur's suffering.
He had assured the people of Manipur, "India is with you. Parliament is with you. Together we will find a solution to this challenge."
In Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituencies, he urged the people to vote for BJP candidates.
