Amit Shah: Anti-Maoist Operations Result in Drastic Drop in Insurgency
Amit Shah went on to say that since the Security Forces suggested 250 camps in 2019, the Maoists' activities have been contained.

Anti-Maoist Operations Result in Drastic Drop in Insurgency: Union Minister Amit Shah said that since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was formed in Chhattisgarh back in 2023 there has been a drop in insurgency by the Anti-Maoist ops.

Amit Shah made such a remark a day after 29 insurgents were killed in Chhattisgarh Kanker district by the police and Border Security Force (BSF).

Also, there has been a great increase in the efforts of the Chhattisgarh Security forces, with 79 killed in 2024 compared to 22 in 2023.

Amit Shah further added that since 2019 the activities of Maoists have been under control after the Security Forces have proposed 250 camps. He also noted that since the new government came into power in Raipur 125 Maoists have been arrested and 150 have turned themselves in.

Although the fight against the Maoists has intensified since 2019, the security forces adjusted their tactics significantly in January of this year following the visit to Raipur by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Reports from the security agencies said that there has been a decrease drastically in the number of Maoists across the country with only 2500-3000 left.

In a meeting with senior officials from the Chhattisgarh Police, the Central Reserve Police (CRPF), the Border Security Force (BSF), the Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) and central intelligence agencies, Shah told them that they needed to get rid of Maoists within 2 years, and that the government would provide all resources.

However, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said “There were many fake encounters during the 15 years of BJP rule(before Baghel took oath in December 2018) which did not happen in our regime. Tribals are being threatened that they will be arrested,”
