Air India Plane’s Tail Catches Fire After Landing at Delhi Airport; No Injuries Reported
Air India claimed that the airplane was grounded and additional investigation was taken place and the regulatory body has been notified.

The tail of an Air India plane doused in flames Tuesday shortly after it had landed in Delhi at the Indira Gandhi Airport (IGI) in Hong Kong. There was domestic damage to the aircraft however, passengers and cabin crew came out of the aircraft.
Hong Kong to Delhi flight AI 315 on Tuesday, July 22 reported an auxiliary power unit (APU) fire that occurred soon after landing and parking at the gate, said the airline.

In a statement, an Air India spokesperson said, "Flight AI 315, operating from Hong Kong to Delhi on 22 July 2025, experienced an auxiliary power unit (APU) fire shortly after it had landed and parked at the gate. The incident occurred while passengers had begun disembarking, and the APU was automatically shut down as per system design."
"There was some damage to the aircraft; however, passengers and crew members disembarked normally and are safe. The aircraft has been grounded for further investigations and the regulator has been duly notified," the spokesperson added.
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) informed that the fire has been extinguished and the enquiry on the issue is in progress.
Air India made it to the headlines on Monday two times due to two different aircraft incidents. An Air India flight scheduled to head to Kolkata was forced to abort takeoff at Delhi airport because of technical snag.
In yet another accident, Air India flight AI2744 traveled through the runway during landing and crashed at the airport of Mumbai that was in intense rain when it landed. "The aircraft taxied safely to the gate, and all passengers and crew members have since disembarked. The aircraft has been grounded for checks," an airline spokesperson said in a statement.
One of the runways in the Mumbai airport was temporarily closed as a result of the incident.
In another event, an IndiGo aircraft arriving in Goa with 140 passengers on board also made an emergency call at the Indore airport due to some technical malfunction in connection with landing gears.
The Indian Airlines, flight number 6E 813 flying between Goa International Airport (Dabolim) to Indore, made the announcement of technical snag just before landing. "The aircraft landed safely in Indore. It will undergo necessary checks, as per mandatory procedures, before resuming operations," an airline spokesperson said in a statement.
