According to the NEWS 18 reports, during the five-and-a-half-hour flight, the unnamed man refused to take all refreshments. When the flight attendant offered water to each passenger, as he refused to drink any water. Then the man also refused any other food or drinks that were offered to him by a flight attendant. Being suspicious of his behaviour, the flight attendant informed the captain, who turned into informing the security agencies about the suspicious behaviour of a passenger via Air Traffic Control.

After the Air India flight landed in Delhi, the unnamed passenger was closely monitored and questioned by the security personnel. When he tried to pass the Green Customs Clearance Channel then he was stopped by the security personnel for questioning.
While he was being questioned, the man admitted he had gold hidden in his rectum. The gold paste worth over ₹69 lakhs which he had hidden in his rectum in the form of four oval capsules.

Joint Commissioner (Customs) Monika Yadav stated that” approximately 1096.76 grams of gold were recovered from the passenger. He was arrested under the Customs Act after admitting to smuggling gold from Jeddah. An investigation has been launched into the incident.”
The cabin crew have been alert and instructed to keep an eye on the passengers who were refusing all food and drinks on the long flight. It could be suspected that they are smuggling gold into their bodies.
The shop’s owner, a YouTuber named Mohammed Sabir Ali, was arrested for helping a smuggler for smuggling 267 kg of gold worth Rs 167 crore over two months. He was engaged by the syndicate to help them in smuggling gold. This is an incident of this year when a souvenir shop at Chennai airport was uncovered as a front for a Sri Lankan gold smuggling syndicate.
