7 Maoists Killed in Telangana’s Mulugu District in Major Encounter
Seven Maoists, among them a senior commander, were killed in an encounter with police early this morning in Mulugu district of Telangana, almost a week after two tribal men were killed on doubt of being informers to the police.

Security forces slaughtered seven maoists in an encounter on Sunday morning. Only a week after two tribal men were murdered on suspicion of being police informers in the area.

The encounter took place in Chalpaka forests at around 5:30 am between the elite anti-Maoist force Greyhounds and the Maoists. They had sighted the Maoist group during operations and asked them to surrender, but the latter fired at the commandos, forcing cops to fire back in retaliation.
Among the dead was Bhadru alias Kursam Mangu alias Papanna, 35, who was the area committee commander of the CPI (Maoist) for Yellandu-Narsampet and also part of its Telangana State Committee.
Other six deceased Maoists have been identified as Egolapu Mallaiah, 43, Mussaki Deval, 22, Mussaki Jamuna, 23, Jai Singh, 25, Kishore, 22, and Kamesh, who were aged 23, and were being led by Bhadru.

These have been seized along with their weapons, including AK-47s, G3 rifles and INSAS rifles, among others.
First major such Maoist encounter is happening in Mulugu in recent years. It brings the streak of killings by the Maoists in Mulugu, where two tribal men were murdered last November 21 on suspicion of being informers to the police.
The two men were later identified as Uika Ramesh, the secretary of Peruru Gram Panchayat, and Uika Arjun. Left by the Maoists was a note claiming that they were collecting information to be passed on to a state intelligence agency.
