4 Maoists Killed in Encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur — Arms Recovered: Police
Exchange of fire was initiated in the evening when security officials mounted a search mission on the basis of some intelligence alerts on Maoist existence in the dense jungles.

On Saturday four suspected Maoists were killed after security forces clashed with them in thick bushes of Chhattisgarh district Bijapur, police said.
Authorities reported that they recovered weapons and bullets and the fire fight is continuing.
A Bijapur superintendent of police (SP), Jitendra Yadav claimed that four bodies have been recovered by the police but their identity is still not known.

The fire exchange started in the evening following a search operation carried out by security personnel on the basis of intelligence inputs that the Maoist presence was in the south-western corner of the district.
“Intermittent firing between the two sides has continued since then,” said Yadav.
Other weapons, explosive materials, items of daily importance, INSAS rifles and SLR rifles are among the weapons found including ammunition of arms that were recovered by security forces at the site of the encounter, the SP added.
The authorities have said that information of sensitive nature like the actual site of the confrontation and the strength of personnel stations have been held back at present as a precautionary measure to safeguard troops working on the mission.

He said that a full report will be published when the operation comes to an end.
The Maoists have regressed all over the region since 2024. That year alone 217 Maoists were killed in different encounters.
The number of the Maoist casualties after this operation on Saturday has increased to about 464 till date in 2025.
Amit Shah, the union home minister had in the past said that in 2022, Maoism will be wiped off Chhattisgarh state, and that both the central and the state governments are engaged in total coordination to stamp out the insurgency in the state through security and development.
