2 Killed, 9 Injured in Manipur as Suspected Kuki Insurgents Use Drones to Drop Bombs: Police Report
On Sunday, in a militant gun-and-bomb attack in the Koutruk and Kadangband areas of Manipur, a woman was killed and nine others injured.

2 Killed, 9 Injured in Manipur: On Sunday, in a militant gun-and-bomb attack in the Koutruk and Kadangband areas of Manipur, a woman was killed and nine others injured. The militants were said to have been firing from top of the hills, this created much fear and harm.
Police added that the attackers concentrated on the valleys and this led to the heavy bombardment and destruction of some many houses.
The hospital officials said five of the injured had bullet injuries and the rest had received splinter injuries in the bomb blasts.
This triggered a lot of havoc with many of the villager’s including the women, children and even the elders being forced to run for their dear lives.

The corpse which has since been identified as that of 31 year old Ngangbam Surbala Devi has been taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for an autopsy. The identity of the other fatality has not yet been confirmed an officer confirmed to News24.
Anti-riot police and other security forces have been placed in the region in a bid to restore order between state AND central security organs. The state government has also join the condemnation of the attack.
"The state government has learnt about the unfortunate incident of attack on unarmed Koutruk villagers using drones, bombs, and sophisticated weapons reportedly by Kuki militants causing the death of two persons including one woman."
"Such an act of terrorizing upon unarmed villagers is viewed very seriously by the state government when it is putting all possible efforts towards bringing normalcy and peace in the state," read a statement by the home department.

The government also considers this event as an attempt to destabilise the existing peace processes which are under way.
"The state government has already taken up immediate action to control the situation and to punish those who were involved in the attack on Koutruk Village, Imphal West," the statement added.
"Meanwhile, the DGP has instructed all SPs to remain on maximum alert in all fringe areas," police confirmed.
