Elephant Tosses Man Into Air at Kerala Temple Festival: Spine-Chilling Video

Elephant Tosses Man Into Air: At least 24 people were injured after an elephant got agitated during a religious festival in Kerala's Malappuram district on the intervening night of January 7 and 8.

Footage from the event shows five elephants, adorned with golden plates, parading through the crowd as people tried to capture the moment on their cameras. Pakkathu Sreekuttan, the elephant, apparently lost control at the annual offering at Tirur's BP Angadi Mosque. The animal lifted a man and swung him into the air.

Reportedly, the man was admitted to MIMS Hospital with serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in Kotakkal. A stampede-like situation caused the majority of the injuries as people scrambled to find safety.

Multiple men attempted to restrain the elephant using chains, but it took nearly two hours to calm the animal. Once subdued, the elephant was secured near a mast to prevent any further incidents.

The incident happened at 12:30 in the morning. There was panic among the guests. The event was captured on camera, and the footage quickly gained widespread popularity. As the elephant began to become irritated, revellers ran away.

The agitated jumbo was then brought to control with the help of the elephant's caretaker.

Earlier this week,a 37-year-old tribal man succumbed to injuries after being trampled by a wild elephant while walking through a dense forest near Nilambur.

The incident occurred at the Poochappara settlement in the Karulai forest range when Mani, a member of the Cholanaikkan community, and a group of others were returning to their hamlet after dropping his children at a tribal hostel.
