Sambhal Mosque Row: For its following hearings on the case involving the Mughal construction Shahi Jama Masjid and its survey, a local court in Sambhal has set March 5.
According to Shakil Ahmad Wari, the attorney representing the Muslim side, they have submitted the copy of the Supreme Court order prohibiting any lower court from entertaining new matters that might seek surveys over any place of worship pending further orders.

"The Supreme Court has directed all the lower courts not to entertain new suits seeking surveys of any place of worship until further orders. We have filed a copy of the said order in the court, which fixed March 5 as the next date of hearing," Shakil Ahmad Wari quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
To the claim of Hindu side regarding the mosque being built over an ancient Harihar temple, Wari said the court will decide. "We will prove in the court that it was not a Harihar temple but the Jama Masjid. We have all the evidence," he added.
Lawyer of Hindu side, Gopal Sharma also confirmed that hearing has been scheduled for March 5, 2010.
“We filed an application with the court demanding their opportunity to reply should now end. Now the matter will be heard on March 5,” he said.

Sambhal mosque case
It surveyed the Shahi Jama Masjid on 19 November as a result of court orders which followed a petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain, who alleged that there existed a temple at the site earlier than that.
Another survey over the mosque again broke out violence on November 24. Four were reported dead with others nursing injuries due to bruises caused during a tussle between police and protesters. Injured in the incident were: 29 police personnel.
The Supreme Court, as of November 29, ordered the Sambhal trial court not to pass any orders regarding the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid, while also directing the government of Uttar Pradesh to maintain peace and harmony within the violent town.
