Support and education for Gukesh
An award-winning emerging chess star, Gukesh has been receiving financial assistance under the High Incentives Scheme in the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT). This event will see several important FIDE circuit points gained for him, as last year's state-organized Chennai Grand Masters event was very favorable for his further pursuit.

Win of Gukesh to World Championship Title
This victory made India's Gukesh Dommaraju the youngest-ever world chess champion, defeating China Ding Liren in a nail-biting finale in Singapore just last Thursday. The title came after the crucial 14th game, at the age of just 18, creating a record that was earlier established by Garry Kasparov in 1985.Liren, using black, made a critical mistake in the endgame. He had already set the game up quite well for a tiebreaker after bringing it into what seemed to be an even endgame. At that point, the standings read 7.5-6.5, with Gukesh leading.
"In that position, I didn't expect to win so it was overwhelming," Gukesh said after the match. For Liren, it was the end of a difficult year. He has been struggling with form since winning the title this year, has missed most of the major classical events, and has not scored in this format since January.
