Zelensky Urges India to Stop Oil Imports: During his history visit to the war-ravaged country of Ukraine on Friday Narendra Modi held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The two leaders fist-bumped and embraced at the entrance of the Martyrologist Exposition that is held at the Ukraine National Museum before proceeding for the scheduled bilateral meeting at the Mariinsky presidential palace.
Zelensky posted a video on X and said, “Today in Kyiv, Prime Minister @NarendraModi and I honored the memory of the children whose lives were taken by Russian aggression. Children in every country deserve to live in safety. We must make this possible.”

Modi was the first Prime Minister of India to enter Ukraine since the establishment of diplomatic relation between India and Ukraine more than three decades earlier.
The visit comes at a crucial time since Modi will urge a diplomatic way to the Ukraine Russia conflict which looks more improbable than ever with Ukraine’s surprise attack on the western Russian Kursk.
Earlier on Thursday, before proceeding to Kyiv, Modi, during his Poland visit urged more diplomacy to bring an end to the conflict.
"No problem can be resolved on a battlefield," Modi said ahead of his visit, adding that India supports "dialogue and diplomacy for restoration of peace and stability as soon as possible".
While India has been very cautious in terming Russia’s action as an invasion, Modi has always urged both Russia and Ukraine to sit for negotiation.
The dismissal is seen in many quarters as an attempt to appease both sides as the prime minister’s trip to Kyiv angered the Russian Bear whose anger triggered anguish among the Western Union countries.

Zelensky described that meeting as a “huge disappointment and a devastating blow to peace efforts.”
Modi was recently accused of Eastern embracing Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow in July – by Zelensky.
Later in the day, Modi was welcomed by Aasha supporters of Indian origin at the Gdansk Hyatt hotel after travelling for nearly 10 hours on a train from Warsaw, Poland.
He also visited the Martyrologist Exposition at the Ukraine National Museum and later with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
