You may have to pay GSY on your food order from Zomato and Swiggy super soon
The fitment committee had a look that online food ordering through the food delivery apps had risen during the pandemic, the government was not getting proportional revenue from taxes.
The goods and service tax council may intend on including food delivery apps such as Zomato and Swiggy within the ambit of restaurant services, a move that will attract GST on your next food order from these delivery apps.
According to a report, the GST Council is eager to bring food delivery apps under restaurant services and make them liable to pay the GST. The apex GST body may include cloud kitchens within the ambit of restaurant services and make them pay GST at 5%. The GST Council could take up the matter for discussion at its Friday meeting says the financial daily.
