Yogi Adityanath Responds to Priyanka Gandhi’s ‘Palestine’ Bag, Highlights UP’s Support for Israel
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath slices through Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's latest choice of fashion - a bag in which 'Palestine' is written.

Yogi Adityanath Responds to Priyanka Gandhi: On Tuesday, Adityanath took it upon himself to speak about the issue, which has been vexing members of the Uttar Pradesh state assembly, criticising Gandhi for flaunting support for Palestine while ignoring the healthy association between Uttar Pradesh and Israel. "A Congress leader was seen carrying a bag with 'Palestine' written on it, while we are sending over 5,600 youth from Uttar Pradesh to Israel for construction work," he said.
Uttar Pradesh's Strong Relationship with Israel
The Chief Minister also made it clear that development has as much to do with the occupants, since the youth from Uttar Pradesh travel to Israel for such opportunities as free accommodation, meals, and a monthly salutation of ₹1.5 lakh. "This partnership not only provides employment but ensures the safety and welfare of our youth working there," he added.
His comments suggest the increasing intimacy between Israel and Uttar Pradesh, though with many young people from the state, construction work is in Israel. According to Adityanath, this outreach compares poorly to the symbolic act by Gandhi, which, according to media reports, overlooked cooperative pragmatism between the two.
A Stance for Women's Empowerment by Priyanka Gandhi in Response
Priyanka Gandhi's reply has come almost immediately. She denied the allegations against her bag of 'Palestine,' asserting that the BJP's exercise was a mere failure trying to suppress her voice. "Who is going to decide what I should wear? This is typical patriarchy, deciding what a woman should wear," she stated, defending her personal choice.
Further, she said that there are still reports of atrocities against minorities and Hindus in Bangladesh, for which everyone needs to open their eyes. "The atrocities happening in Bangladesh should not go unnoticed. Talks should be held with the Bangladesh government about these issues," she said, stressing that such concerns must also be addressed, as per media reports.

Neutral Stance by India's Towards Israel-Palestine Conflict
During this great and high political strife, India's official stance is to remain neutral on the Israel and Palestine conflict. The Indian government, while condemning the October 7 terrorists attack in Israel and loss of civilian lives, is, however advocating for a peaceful settlement to the crisis. For India, support for a two-state solution will be testimony that it exists and continues to exist underlining its commitment to peaceful, secure coexistence between Israel and Palestine.
The debate about Priyanka Gandhi's 'Palestine' bag reminds one of the politics of international relations and internal politics. According to the media reports, it also reminds how collective expressions of a person-that is, individual expressions of support-come into contact with the larger national interests in diplomacy, often featuring politics.
Even though this political phenomena takes new shapes and forms, it seems that leaders of every political outfit will voice their opinion using self-explanatory symbolism and statements, each gesture opening up fresh avenues for debate in public discourse.
