Yashwant Sinha offers to resign from TMC, may be presidential candidate from opposition
According to the sources, the Trinamool Congress wants to make Yashwant Sinha, a former Union Minister and BJP rebel, the joint opposition candidate for the post of President. Sources say that the opposition cannot be united on Yashwant Sinha's candidature as he is not a universal face as a secular and progressive face.

Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha has expressed his desire to resign from the Trinamool Congress (TMC). There are speculations that he may be made the presidential candidate by the opposition. In a social media post, he said, 'I am grateful to Mamta ji for the respect and prestige she has given me in TMC. Now the time has come for me to break away from the party for a bigger cause so that I can work to unite the opposition. I hope Mamta ji will accept this step of mine.
Presidential election has been formally announced. A split in the opposition camp has started even before a common candidate can be fielded for the presidency. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to meet in Delhi on June 15 in view of the elections. In this meeting, Mamta has sent invitations to 22 opposition parties including Congress, NCP. However, Aam Aadmi Party, DMK and Left are in the mood to walk away from this meeting. The reason behind this is being told that Mamta Banerjee wants to make Yashwant Sinha the Presidential candidate, on which the opinion of the opposition is not unanimous.
According to sources, the reason for dissatisfaction in the anti-BJP camp has also come to the fore. In fact, the Trinamool Congress wants to make Yashwant Sinha, a former Union Minister and BJP rebel, the joint opposition candidate for the post of President. Sources say that the opposition cannot be united on Yashwant Sinha's candidature as he is not a universal face as a secular and progressive face.
