Yakub Qureshi, former minister of BSP government, arrested in Delhi along with his son

Yakub Qureshi contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh and lost to BJP MP Rajendra Agarwal by a narrow margin. In the year 2007, he was a minister in the BSP government in UP. Qureshi had hit headlines for announcing a bounty on the head of a Danish cartoonist who had drawn a caricature of Prophet Muhammad in 2006. Qureshi was elected from the Meerut seat in 2007 as a UPUDF candidate, while he later joined the Bahujan Samaj Party. In the year 2012, he again joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).
