Woman Who Missed Air India Flight by 10 Minutes Recalls Lucky Escape: ‘My Body Is Shivering’

Woman Who Missed Air India Flight by 10 Minutes Recalls Lucky Escape: Bhoomi Chauhan, a woman who was late and missed her London flight by 10 minutes, was fortunate to have avoided the disastrous Air India flight AI-171. According to Republic TV, Chauhan was supposed to be on the Ahmedabad flight, but caught in traffic missed the plane by mere minutes.
"I missed my flight by only 10 minutes," Chauhan said through streaming tears, "I am still shivering."

“I am completely devastated after hearing about the loss (of lives). My body is literally shivering. I am not being able to talk. My mind is totally blank now after hearing all that has happened,” she said.
On Thursday I left Sardar Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at around 1.30 p.m. after I missed my flight, the Air India flight bound for London left at around 1.38 p.m. and crashed shortly after takeoff into a residential area just beyond the airport runway.
"My mind is totally blank. I am thankful to God. My Ganpati Bappa saved me," she added.
Chauhan was scheduled to make the return leg to London solo on an Air India flight. She came to India for a vacation after two years, and lives in London with her husband. “Just because of those ten minutes, I could not board the flight. I don't know how to explain this,” she said.

The crash occurred on Thursday afternoon, and is one of the deadliest disasters involving a Boeing Co. 787 Dreamliner aircraft, the US planemaker's most advanced widebody-range aircraft. The plane was twelve years old, arriving from Delhi just hours before the crash.
Shortly after taking off, it entered a rapid descent and exploded into a large fireball when it crashed into a residential area. The plane had reached 625 feet according to data from Flightradar24.
