In an interview given to a media house, Swaminathan has stressed on the need to take all possible precautions and wear masks.
WHO scientist Soumya Swaminathan said that the mask is the biggest weapon against the new variant of Covid-19. He said that the mask is a vaccine kept in the pocket which will protect you from corona. So wear a mask.
Apart from this, the WHO's chief scientist has made suggestions such as vaccination of adults in the war against the new variant Omicron, distance from mass gatherings and keeping a close watch on abnormal rise in cases.
Swaminathan said this variant may be more infectious than Delta. Although nothing can be said officially yet. He said that we will get more information about it in a few days. Regarding the comparison of Omicron with other Covid variants, Swaminathan said that we need to do more studies to get accurate information about the new variant.
