WHO approves Serum Institute of India’s vaccine Covovax
Adar Poonawalla, who is the CEO of the Serum Institute of India, shared the information and said that this was another milestone in the fight against Covid-19.

In a significant development, the World Health Organisation has granted its approval to a vaccine called Covovax which has been manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.
The approval has been granted for the emergency use against Covid-19. Adar Poonawalla, who is the CEO of the Serum Institute of India, shared the information and said that this was another milestone in the fight against Covid-19.
He said, “This is yet another milestone in our fight against Covid-19, Covovax is now WHO approved for emergency use, showing excellent safety and efficacy. Thank you all for a great collaboration.”
Scientists are working on several vaccines the world over and the main concern today is the emerging mutants and if the vaccines will be successful against them.
There are 25 vaccines that have been approved by the drug regulatory authorities in various countries. Besides, there are 326 vaccines that are at various stages of development.
While some are at the initial trial phase, many others are at the advanced stage. After the emergence of Omicron, the concern has grown that what if these vaccines will not work.
There have been many cases in which even fully vaccinated people have contracted the virus.
Not only that, in counties like UK and Germany, reports say that people who have had booster doses even picked up the infection.
