When Fathers Empowered Daughters: In a time where a film starring Sanya Malhotra and called Mrs. is supposed to exemplify the plight of women, there were men, namely fathers, who helped empower women in the industry. Of course, the method of parenting changed with the times, but the objective was still there - to let your daughters know they were worthy of love, life, and freedom. Here are some fathers we are celebrating today!

Bitti (Kriti Sanon) is not like any other woman. As a small-town girl, it is bold of her to go on a trip alone, and she is willing to speak about anything and everything, even in such small conservative town talking openly about taboo subjects. It is what makes her Bareilly Ki Barfi. The big kudos of who she is goes to her dad Narottam Mishra (Pankaj Tripathi) who lets his daughter be who she wants to.

Do we really need to mention the lovable Bhaskor Banerjee (Amitabh Bachchan) in Piku? He did come off as annoying, but leaves an impression deeper than anyone else, especially in his last frame.
Banerjee is a single parent who raised his daughter in a way that made her independent enough to do anything life threw at her. That showed up when she simply left everything to take care of her father. Piku, in every assessable way, is a reflection of her dad. Thus, the movie translates into a charming story which a typical Indian can revisit easily.
Yaadein is a film from the early 2000s. The film's plot that focuses on a father raising three children by himself. Raj Puri Singh (Jackie Shroff) is particularly close to his youngest daughter Isha (Kareena Kapoor). Family importance and Isha's strong will stems from witnessing her father fight off life's battles while raising his daughters by himself. Raj is a father first, even under the most dire of circumstances, and that is true for Isha. Thus, they both act as proponents of green flags in a father-child relationship.
We already know the "great" Bollywood father that Anupam Kher has portrayed over the years. However, he is often not talked about as much when it comes to Hum Aapke Hain Koun! Kher played the role of Professor Siddharth Choudhury, who raised two daughters Nisha and Pooja. We already know the type of values the sisters adopted and how close those values are, but it is when the film ends and we see Professor Siddharth Choudhury being a great father to his daughter. He always chooses his daughter, and she always chooses her father's happiness above even herself.
Another father that is often missed in Bollywood is Udpal Dutt in Golmaal - primarily because the film is shrouded in comedy as ridiculous as it is when the real message is of a daughter imitating her father who is a street-smart man who would do all sorts of behaviour on behalf of his daughter and vice versa. Again it is father and daughter against the world and they would always have each other's backs when it comes to the disgusting mentality of society.
