Chakraborty, an IAS officer, was accused of various kinds of allegations by the BJP of West Bengal. The Raj Bhavan requested his transfer on Sunday and relieved him of his duties. Issued on Wednesday evening, the Home Department has also issued an order in this regard.

West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose will set up a new team at Raj Bhavan to handle his affairs and as a first step in this direction, his principal secretary Nandini Chakraborty has been shifted from Raj Bhavan to the tourism department. Chakraborty, an IAS officer, was accused of various kinds of allegations by the BJP of West Bengal. The Raj Bhavan requested his transfer on Sunday and relieved him of his duties. Issued on Wednesday evening, the Home Department has also issued an order in this regard.
The BJP is upset with the Governor maintaining cordial relations with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Governor had praised Mamata Banerjee in her speech at St. Xavier's University and in her address to the state assembly. The party accused Chakraborty of "misleading" the governor on several issues and said she was driving the agenda of the state government at the Raj Bhavan.
The local unit of the BJP was demanding his removal. Sources said that the situation had become such that the Governor felt compelled to replace Nandini Chakraborty. The action of the Governor's House has come to the fore after state BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar met CV Anand Bose on Saturday. Sources said that he had requested the governor to remove the officer. The Governor's office had listed several issues raised by the BJP leader in the meeting, but the matter was not mentioned in the subsequent press release.
The BJP wants the new governor to follow the path followed by his predecessor and the current Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, who has been at loggerheads with the state government on several issues. During his tenure, the relationship between the Raj Bhavan and the government had completely broken down. The ruling Trinamool Congress accused Dhankhar of converting the Raj Bhavan into an extension of the BJP office.
