Weather Update : Many states including North India in the grip of cold wave

North India including the capital Delhi is in the grip of cold wave. Dense fog cover in Amritsar today due to increasing cold. People were seen warming themselves by the fire to avoid the cold. The increasing cold and cold wave continues in the country's capital Delhi, due to which fog was seen in the city.

Due to snowfall in the hilly areas, the cold has suddenly increased in North India. Visibility remained 100 meters in the capital. According to the IMD weather website, today the minimum temperature dropped to 4 degree Celsius whereas on Saturday i.e. a day before it was five degrees. Due to increasing cold and cold wave in Kanpur, people were seen warming themselves by the fire and drinking tea.

Airlines canceled nearly 2,700 US flights as of Saturday afternoon, frustrating thousands of holiday travelers as winter disrupted airport operations nationwide.

The IMD said that a thick layer of fog was visible in the sky of Punjab, North Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi. At the same time, fog remained in some parts of Bihar, while most parts of Uttar Pradesh remained fog free. The cold wave continued to intensify in Kashmir with the minimum temperature recording a drop at most places in the valley. Officials said Srinagar recorded a low of minus (-5.4) degrees Celsius. Pahalgam, a base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius, he said. The tourist resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius.
