Vivek Ramaswamy’s Bold Response to Elon Musk on Trump 2.0 Plans: In a sweeping post-election reshuffle, two billionaires-Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy-are to head the new 'Department of Government Efficiency' (D.O.G.E) led by US President-elect Donald Trump, his team said. Appointments confirmed.
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (“DOGE")," Trump announced in a statement on his Truth Social Platform. Trump's team revealed that the appointments were in line with adopting an entrepreneurial approach in governing the government.
The ambitious initiative provides for cutting down wasteful expenditures and dismantling government bureaucracy and restructuring federal agencies.
On the same lines, another Indian-American entrepreneur, Vivek Ramaswamy, also put up a reaction to his inclusion in Trump's new department on X. Tagging Musk, Ramaswamy said, "We will not go gently". The selection capped speculation over his involvement in the Trump administration after he was reportedly snubbed for the role of US Secretary of State in favor of Senator Marco Rubio.

Ramaswamy, 39, was a vocal Trump supporter in his 2024 presidential campaign and loudly campaigned on his hard-line economy and immigration policies. A Trump primary opponent to begin with., he generally avoided knocking the President-elect and became a loud advocate for Trump after he announced he would end his presidential aspirations.
Trump praised the young Indian-American businessman, calling him "smart as hell" and suggested that he could become a part of the administration to oversee major government initiatives.
Of course, the million-dollar question was what role Ramaswamy would play in Trump 2.0: He'd run for the Ohio Senate seat vacated by Vice President-elect JD Vance, according to media speculation after January. But with the new appointment, Ramaswamy said he would withdraw from consideration.
And yes, this means I’m withdrawing myself from consideration for the pending Senate appointment in Ohio. Whoever Governor DeWine appoints to JD’s seat has some big shoes to fill. I will help them however I can.

This new department to be led by Musk and Ramaswamy outside of the government will now come in to offer advice and guidance so that White House could better drive large-scale structural reform according to Trump. It will be expected to restructure federal agencies so that transparency and public service can be given efficiently by eliminating wasteful spending.
Trump said he wants to free the economy and make the federal government more responsive to the people, saying that this would be concluded by July 4, 2026. He said a leaner and more efficient government that would have less bureaucracy would be the "perfect gift" to the United States on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
During the campaign trail, Trump also threatened to ask for help from Musk in removing "some if the fat" from the government through streamlining government operations. According to Musk himself, there was much "waste and needless regulation" in the government that needed to be disposed of.
Sometimes it takes heroes outside the government to save the government from itself.

He said that all the Department of Government Efficiency's actions will go online for maximum transparency and will even have some sort of leaderboard for the "most insanely dumb spending" of tax dollars, which he described as "extremely tragic and extremely entertaining".
Speaking during his victory speech, Trump hailed Musk as a new star. He has been for the President-elect since he began his campaign, chipping in over $100 million to the fight for Trump getting another chance and campaigning intensively on X. It further became evident that much more was in store for Musk when he played for Trump 2.0 by being invited to join a call between President-elect Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
