Viral Pneumonia Explained: Symptoms, Causes, and Effective Treatment Options

Viral pneumonia is an infection in the lung where oxygen and carbon dioxide gas exchange abnormalities at the alveoli, which causes lung tissue to swell and the formation of water and puss in the lungs.

Viral pneumonia is an infection in the lung where oxygen and carbon dioxide gas exchange abnormalities at the alveoli, which causes lung tissue to swell and the formation of water and puss in the lungs. Bacterial pneumonia is more dangerous than Viral pneumonia.

It can make it hard to breathe for you. You may be in a problem if you get pneumonia and you have got a lung disease like COPD or cystic fibrosis or recently had the flu or smoked a cigarette. Pneumonia can affect both of your lungs and it is called bilateral or double pneumonia.

Viral Pneumonia Symptoms

Symptoms of Viral Pneumonia can be recognized over a span of days which is identical to Bacterial pneumonia.

  • Dry cough
  • Headache
  • Muscle pain
  • Extreme tiredness or weakness
  • A sudden change in mental state
  • Low appetite
  • Fatigue

Viral Pneumonia Causes

In pneumonia, the immune system attacks an infection in the alveoli Which makes your lungs leak fluid and swell. Many bacteria, viruses, and fungi are infectious leading to Pneumonia. Common illnesses that can lead to pneumonia are:

  • Common cold (rhinovirus)
  • COVID-19 (SARS-COV-2)
  • The flu (influenza virus)
  • Human metapneumovirus (HMPV)
  • Human parainfluenza virus (HPIV)
  • Legionnaires’ disease.
  • Mycoplasma pneumonia bacteria.
  • Pneumococcal disease.
  • Pneumocystis pneumonia.
  • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
  • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
  • Influenza virus
  • Parainfluenza virus Adenovirus (less common)
  • Measles virus Coronaviruses such as SARS-CoV-2

Viral Pneumonia Effective Treatment Options

The initial treatment for Pneumonia is

  • Maintaining oxygenation as much as needed as well as hydration in the patient through supervised oral intake. The patient should get as much as rest the patient could get.
  • Before the treatment of Pneumonia, you need to disclose your medical history as some of the medical conditions could enhance our feudal condition. Its treatment includes.
  • Antibiotics: fungal infections causing Pneumonia could be eliminated through Antibiotics.
  • Oxygen therapy: If you are not getting enough Oxygen the provider will transfer more oxygen to your lungs through lubes.

The treatment for pneumonia includes

  • Corticosteroid medicines
  • Increased fluids
  • Oxygen
  • Use of humidified air
