Vaccination Drive in teenagers spreading at an exponential pace, 84 lakhs teens vaccinated across nation in the last 2 days
In order to contain the spread of the Covid pandemic fuelled massively by the Omnicron variant, the central government is implementing vaccination drives, especially for the teenagers who aren't yet vaccinated at a massive rate.

In order to contain the spread of the Covid pandemic fuelled massively by the Omnicron variant, the central government is implementing vaccination drives, especially for the teenagers who aren't yet vaccinated at a massive rate. Nearly 84.4 lakh teenagers aged 15-17 were vaccinated till Tuesday afternoon. Today, the number has surpassed a crore. e government is aiming to achieve 85-90% coverage of first dose amongst the teenagers within the next 20 days. This is done to ensure that teenagers are not at the receiving end of the havoc caused by the possible third wave of the pandemic.
According to the health ministry, there are around 7.4 crore adolescents in the 15-17 age group. As of now, only Covaxin has been allowed to be administered for the teenagers. 7.4 crore teens which constitute approximately 5.4% of the population is the target of the government. More than a crore registrations for the age group of 13-17 have already been done.
The vaccination of the teens will ensure imperative immunity required by the population to end the pandemic. Vaccination of adolescents will be beneficial in bringing normalcy in their lives. Schools have been closed again and since this age group remained unvaccinated till very recently, it accelerated the chances of transmission.
