Vaani Kapoor Removes All ‘Abir Gulal’ Posts with Fawad Khan from Instagram Amid Pahalgam Attack Fallout

By Bollywood actor Vaani Kapoor, he was about to be cast opposite Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in his Bollywood comeback film Abir Gulal. The film was soon mired in controversy following the Pahalgam terror attack in April; government sources informed PTI that the film would not be allowed to release in India. Meanwhile, amidst this, traces of all possible promotional activity for the film were snuffed off from Vaani's Instagram account.

Did Vaani Kapoor delete all posts related to Abir Gulal?

Soon after the Pahalgam attack, all associations regarding Abir Gulal and Fawad Khan were deleted from Vaani's Insta. From posters and teasers to behind-the-scenes moments, the promotional material disappeared from the account of the actor. However, according to Times Now, Vaani herself was not the one who deleted the posts. The content had been imagined as collabs originally in Instagram and actual deletion was done by the production team of the movie, not Vaani. So, the posts were deleted automatically for her account as well.

This comes after the Instagram accounts of many Pakistani celebrities, including that of Fawad Khan, Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, and Atif Aslam, among others, were restricted in India following the Pahalgam terror attack. Anyone trying to open these accounts from within India faces a blank page with a message that says: "Account not available in India. This is due to us complying with a legal request to restrict this content."

Abir Gulal, a romantic film directed by Aarti S. Bagdi for Vivek Agrawal, had its Indian release slated for 9 May. Nonetheless, due to the strike in Pahalgam and the gathering political tension that arose between Pakistan and India, the film's release was postponed. Government sources told PTI, “The movie Abir Gulaal, starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, will not be allowed to release in India.”

On 22 April, 26 people, mostly civilians, were shot at in a terror attack in Pahalgam, South Kashmir. It has been called the most gruesome massacre in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack. Bollywood stars, among them Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, condemned the attack. Pakistani actors, Hania Amir and Mahira Khan, also expressed sorrow over the lives lost.

Vaani Kapoor’s recent and upcoming work

Meanwhile, Vaani's last release was in Raid 2 in Bollywood. The actor played the role of Ajay Devgn's wife in the movie. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film starred Saurabh Shukla, Riteish Deshmukh, Rajat Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, and others in significant roles. In the upcoming Badtameez Gill, she will share screen space with actors Aparshakti Khurana, Paresh Rawal, Sheeba Chaddha, Richard Bhakti Klein, and Monica Chaudhary. The release date of the film is yet to be confirmed.
