Uttarakhand: Cloud bursts in Dehradun, heavy rains wreak havoc in the state

Due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand since Friday evening, there has been devastation in many districts. Due to heavy rains, the road of Rishikesh-Doon highway has been washed away. A cloud burst has occurred in a village in Raipur area of ​​Dehradun district, the exercise to evacuate people from here had to be started from around 2 o'clock in the night. Not only Doon in the state, but Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Champawat and other districts are also facing a lot of trouble due to rain. Many rivers of the state are in spate, while highways have been closed in many places.

Local people reported the incident of cloudburst at 2.45 am in Sarkhet village of Raipur block of Dehradun district. On receiving the information, the SDRF team immediately reached the spot. All those trapped in the village were rescued, while some took shelter in a nearby resort. SDRF has given this information. Maldevta of Raipur region has also suffered heavy damage due to rain, water has entered many houses, causing problems to the general public. SDRF and administration teams have evacuated the villagers and sent them to safer places.

The traffic system on the Rishikesh-Dehradun highway came to a temporary halt. Ranipokhari police diverted the route in heavy rain late night due to the temporary road flowing on the Jakhan river. The bridge under construction had to be opened for small and two wheelers. Large vehicles had to be diverted from Raiwala-Doiwala. Due to the strong flow in the river here in August last year, the work was going on on the basis of the temporary system due to the broken bridge not being ready for a year, which has collapsed in this rain.
