USA Remains On Top Of The FIFA Women’s World Ranking, Sweden Moves To second And India Enjoying At 57th Position

Sweden women’s Football team has won Silver medal in the just concluded Tokyo Olympics and they have defeated the USA in their opening group match. The USA won the Bronze medal. In the last FIFA Women’s World Ranking the difference between the two teams at the top was some 124.20 points, the biggest such gap ever. Over the last few weeks and matches, however, that gap has shrunk. The difference between the USA and Sweden is just 21.53points.

USA Remains On Top Of  The FIFA Women’s World Ranking, Sweden Moves To second And India Enjoying At 57th Position

New Delhi: USA remained on the top of the FIFA Women’s World Ranking and Sweden moved into the second position. Sweden women’s Football team has won Silver medal in the just concluded Tokyo Olympics and they have defeated the USA in their opening group match. The USA won the Bronze medal. In the last FIFA Women’s World Ranking the difference between the two teams at the top was some 124.20 points, the biggest such gap ever. Over the last few weeks and matches, however, that gap has shrunk. The USA may have fallen from its pedestal, but they still occupy the throne. The difference between the USA and Sweden is just 21.53points. Never have the Scandinavians climbed so high in the Ranking.

The Indian women’s team is enjoying at 57th position with 1425.4 points. Buoyed by their Olympic gold, Canada is now sixth, while Germany has dropped a place to third and France two places to fifth. Netherlands (4) are non-movers at fourth. Korea DPR is back in the top ten, and Spain climbed into it for the first time ever. Both sides have profited from falls for Japan, who won just one match – against Chile (37) – at Tokyo 2020, and Australia (11), whose quarter-final defeat of Great Britain was not taken into account when calculating the points.

Elsewhere, Zambia (94) shot back into the top 100 and into their highest ever position thanks to their 4-4 draw against China PR (17) in the group phase at Tokyo 2020, a result achieved despite nearly 90 Ranking places separating the two sides before the game. The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 10 December 2021.
