US intelligence chief Burns said – mistake to underestimate Chinese ambition regarding Taiwan
China has refrained from condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but has also cautioned against direct arms supplies. Burns said that it would be a mistake not to understand the commitment of their mutual partnership. It is known that China considers Taiwan as its territory.

US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director William Burns said on Thursday that Chinese ambition regarding Taiwan should not be underestimated. He claimed that China has ordered its army to be ready for an attack on Taiwan in 2027. US intelligence chief Burns said that according to intelligence, China is preparing to attack Taiwan.
With that said, attack in 2027 doesn't mean it will happen in the same year, it could happen in any other year around it. But we have to remember the seriousness of this and the ambition of China. Burns said that although Xi Jinping must be surprised by Russia's poor performance in Ukraine, he should try to learn from it. Russia had also made an agreement with China on unlimited partnership before the attack on Ukraine in February last year.
Their economic ties boomed as ties with Russia shrink while those with the West shrink. After Russia's attack, the West is worried that China should not attack Taiwan in the same way.
