BJP has announced the names of 107 candidates for Uttar Pradesh Elections 2022. Speculations were being made about CM Yogi Adityanath to contest elections from Mathura and Ayodhya.

BJP has announced the names of 107 candidates for Uttar Pradesh Elections 2022. Speculations were being made about CM Yogi Adityanath to contest elections from Mathura and Ayodhya. But after the release of the list, it has become clear that Yogi Adityanath will contest from Gorakhpur. On the other hand, Keshav Prasad Maurya will contest from Sirathu.
The party has announced 57 candidates for the first phase, 48 for the second phase, one each for the fifth and sixth phases. Tickets of more than 20 sitting BJP MLAs have been cut.
Talking about Gorakhpur city seat, in the year 2017, a total of 23 candidates contested from here. Radha Mohan Das Agarwal was the candidate from BJP's side. He got the highest 55.9% of the votes. Congress candidate Rana Rahul Singh was at number two. He got 28.1% of the vote. At number three was Janardan Choudhary of BSP, who got 11.1% of the votes.
