UP govt rehabilitates 3074 families displaced due to Jewar airport project

The government of Uttar Pradesh has provided land for the rehabilitation of 3074 families. These families have been replaced due to the land acquisition for Jewar airport.

The state government has taken the whole responsibility of implementing the project and its funding. When the UP government started acquiring the land for setting up the airport, it rendered about 3074 families landless.
To accommodate and rehabilitate these families, the state government created a new sector and allotted developed plots to such families.
The Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation Gen. (Dr) VK Singh (Retd) informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply on December 20 that GoUP has informed that the rehabilitation of the displaced families as a result of the Jewar airport project has been carried out in accordance with the provision of Land Acquisition Act,2013.
The Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation further said, “As per the GoUP, they have allotted developed plots by creating a new Sector equal to 50 per cent of the total inhabited area and have ensured that a minimum plot of 50 square meters is allotted to each family.”
“As per the demand of the 3074 displaced families, they have been allotted developed plot sand GoUP has made arrangements to provide necessary basic facilities and infrastructural facilities. GoUP has acquired approximately 52 Hectares of land for rehabilitation of the displaced families and incurred an expenditure of approximately Rs.716 crores,” he added.
