UP DGP Mukul Goyal removed: Alleged negligence in controlling crime, 4 senior officers in race to become DG

UP's Director General of Police i.e. DGP Mukul Goyal has been removed from the post by the Yogi government. They have been accused of negligence in the work of the government and not being able to control crime. Goyal has been made the DG of Civil Defense. Mukul Goyal, a resident of Shamli, is a 1987 batch IPS officer and was made the chief of the UP Police on July 1. Mukul Goyal has been ADG Law and Order under Akhilesh Yadav.
ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar will take over as DGP till the new officer is selected. There is a discussion that the new DGP can come from Delhi. Although there are 4 IPS names in the race to become DGP on the basis of seniority. These include RP Singh, GL Meena, RK Vishwakarma, and DS Chauhan. DS Chauhan is currently on deputation to the Centre. He still has 3 years left in his term.
Mukul Goel was appointed as the DGP on June 30, 2021. Mukul Goyal has also received many awards including the Gallantry Award and Ati Utkrisht Seva Medal from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Mukul Goyal was earlier posted in the center. He was conveyed to Uttar Pradesh before the UP elections. However, he was removed only 11 months after Yogi Adityanath's second term. It is believed that CM Yogi was not happy with his work. This is the reason why this discussion was going on for a long time to remove Mukul Goyal. Actually, questions were being raised about the increase in criminal incidents in UP.
