Union Minister Shri Ramdas Athawale and MP Shri Manoj Tiwari honored over 50 people during Signature Awards, 2023

Union Minister Shri Ramdas Athawale and MP Shri Manoj Tiwari honored over 50 people during Signature Awards, 2023


New Delhi. The people of the society, who are doing better work to empower the underprivileged, neglected and disabled, were honored with the Signature Award, 2023 organized at Maharashtra Sadan. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Ramdas Athawale and Member of Parliament from North-East Delhi Shri Manoj Tiwari honored more than 50 people from education, health, corporate sector at the function organized by Society for Disability Studies and Rehabilitation, Vrihanla Foundation.

During his address, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Ramdas Athawale called upon all respected persons to empower the underprivileged, neglected and needy of the society. He said that Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies, New Delhi has been continuously working for the social upliftment especially for the development of the disabled for the last two and a half decades. It is working to protect the rights and interests of the disabled in many states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar.Its chairman, Dr. GN Karan, was placed on several committees with the consent of the former President of India, Dr. APJ Kalam. Dr. Karna's suggestions were given priority in the policies made for the disabled in the country. During his lifetime, Dr. GN Karan ji became a cause of hope for lakhs of disabled people and provided them facilities.

MP from North East Delhi and former State President of BJP Mr. Manoj Tiwari said that we and you do not know which moment of life is precious. He told that a few years ago Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies had organized a wheelchair distribution ceremony, during which a motorized wheelchair was provided to a handicapped person, this year he became an officer by passing the Divyang Indian Civil Services Examination. When he came to see me, I was moved.

Every event is important. Those who have been honored with this platform today, are requested to make the society better. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has set a target of Mission 2047, in which the participation of every citizen is important. Member of Parliament Mr. Manoj Tiwari honored the people of third gender in this program and shared information about their role in the mainstream of the society and government schemes. He said that till now the third gender people were kept away from such functions, in this case today's program would prove to be a milestone.

Dr. Ajay Kumar Karan, Director, Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies welcomed all the guests. Former Chancellor of Haryana University Dr. RC Kuhad, Director of Neurosurgery Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital Dr. Ajay Chowdhary and other university chancellors and heads of departments were present. The program started formally with the lighting of the lamp and chanting of Vedas.

It was moderated by Dr Rahul Ranjan, Assistant Professor, Delhi University and Dr Pallavi Nair, Research Associate, Imperial College London. During the programme, child artistes presented a cultural programme. Women were also told the tricks of self-defense.
