After flagging off the weekly special train from Jalna to Chhapra Junction in Bihar, Union Minister Raosaheb Danve said on Wednesday night, "Railways do not benefit from running daily (passenger) trains. For every rupee spent, he incurs a loss of 55 paise. There is no profit in running passenger trains, but there is a loss. But Modi government does not work for profit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji says that we have to operate these services for the convenience of the people.
"We try to make up for the loss caused by passenger trains through the operation of freight services and other sources of revenue," the minister said. Danve said that rail connectivity between Khandwa, Prayagraj and Varanasi between Jalna and Chhapra was a long cherished dream of the people of Marathwada region.
Raosaheb Danve said another special train, which will run between Jalna and Tirupati, will be flagged off on October 29. Upinder Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Nanded Division, South Central Railway, who was present on the occasion, said that the railways is continuously taking steps to fulfill the aspirations of the passengers for better connectivity to the destinations of their choice.
