Police Arrests Union Minister Narayan Rane Over His Slap Remarks Against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray
A former Shiv Sena leader, Rane threaten to slap Uddhav. Rane is currently touring the Maharashtra state for the BJP’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from Mumbai to Sindhudurg and the comments were made came during a rally in Chiplun, Ratnagiri district, on Monday night. Narayan Rane said about his comment, "I am not a common man. I have not committed any crime. Is it not a crime if someone doesn't know about 15th August? I had said that I would have slapped these were the words and it's not a crime."
New Delhi: Union minister Narayan Rane was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, over his remarks against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. A former Shiv Sena leader, Rane threaten to slap Uddhav. Rane is currently touring the Maharashtra state for the BJP’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from Mumbai to Sindhudurg and the comments were made came during a rally in Chiplun, Ratnagiri district, on Monday night.

Earlier, amid protests across Maharashtra over Rane’s remarks, former CM Devendra Fadnavis said that the Bharatiya Janata Party does not support the Union minister’s comment. The statement came after activists of the Shiv Sena’s youth wing and the BJP clashed with each other near Rane’s residence in Mumbai. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis said. “We do not support Union Minister Narayan Rane’s remarks on the chief minister. One can get angry for not remembering the Amrit Mahotsav year of India’s Independence, this is natural,”
Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, demanding the sacking of Union minister Narayan Rane over his remarks against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav.
