Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and RCP Singh resigned
The process of filing nomination papers begins when the Election Commission issues a notification asking voters to choose the next Vice President.

Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has resigned. Shortly before, he met the Prime Minister and after that tendered his resignation. Naqvi's Rajya Sabha term was about to end tomorrow. The buzz is that BJP can make Naqvi its candidate for the post of Vice President. Here, JDU quota minister RCP Singh has also resigned from the post. RCP Singh was not sent to the Rajya Sabha by his party JDU.
Earlier, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda today. This meeting took place at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated Naqvi's contribution in the service of the country and the people in the Union Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. The contribution of RCP Singh was also appreciated. The appreciation of the two leaders by the Prime Minister was also seen as an indication that both of them would resign from the Union Cabinet, in the meantime Naqvi has tendered his resignation.
He was the Minister of Minority Affairs in the Central Government and was also the Deputy Leader of BJP in the Rajya Sabha. In the biennial elections held for the Rajya Sabha recently, the BJP did not make him a candidate from anywhere. Since then, there are speculations that the party may assign him a new role. Naqvi has resigned after the notification for the Vice Presidential election issued a day earlier.
The process of filing nomination papers for the elections to be held on August 6 has started from Tuesday and will continue till July 19. The tenure of current Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu ends on August 10. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on July 20 and names can be withdrawn till July 22.
