Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the construction manufacturing industry is important for the country. The government aims to make India the largest economy in the world. Infra sector has a big role in this. Industrial investment cannot be increased without improving water, power, transport and communication. Poverty will end only when employment is created. Gadkari said these things after inaugurating the 6th Bauma Kan Expo at India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida on Tuesday.
More than 600 exhibitors from 26 countries are participating in the exhibition. The exhibition will run till February 3. He said that in the last nine years, his ministry has sanctioned projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore. Bharat Mala Do has been sent to the cabinet for approval. Under this, projects worth Rs 30 lakh crore will be completed. The mining industry has also been opened up to the private sector.
Gadkari said that the auto mobile industry is worth 7.5 lakh crores. The target is to make it 15 lakh crores. There are 45 million jobs in this industry. Similarly, there is a lot of potential in the construction industry as well. India is the third largest construction equipment market in the world. The challenge before the manufacturers is to make India the world's largest construction equipment industry. He said that fuel and pollution are the biggest problems. In projects worth one thousand crores, one hundred crores are spent on fuel. With green energy it can be reduced to 40 crores.
